Sylene Cortez
Content Developer

Bio
As a Content Developer, Sylene (pronounced “Celine,” like Celine Dion) works with subject matter experts to craft comprehensive proposals in response to institutions’ Request for Proposals (RFPs). She is also the driving force behind VisionPoint’s social media presence, strategy, and content. She is a content and copywriter for both traditional and digital media, highly skilled in persuasive and informative writing that speaks to the heart of the issue at hand.
“When higher ed institutions put out an RFP, they will likely receive a handful, if not dozens, of proposals in response,” says Sylene. “I truly believe that VisionPoint can, and does, provide a 360-degree marketing solution for all higher ed institutions, so my job is to draft thorough proposals that elaborate on the solutions and answers that are uniquely and exclusively provided by VisionPoint Marketing.”
When she’s not working on proposals, Sylene is captaining VisionPoint’s social media strategy and presence. With the goal of driving more brand awareness for the company, she owns the task of curating and updating the company’s varied social media channels, as well as engaging and growing its audience.
Sylene’s career in marketing began in the legal industry. In fact, before she worked at VisionPoint, she was working in the marketing department of one of the largest plaintiffs’ firms in the Southeast. Before that, she worked at an agency whose clients primarily consisted of law firms all across the country. While she got her start in legal marketing, she has fine-tuned her marketing and writing skills to encompass a wide range of industries, including lawn care and pest companies, internet companies, lifestyle websites, government entities, and more. She has since adapted her marketing know-how to the world of higher education and immersed herself in the industry.
Sylene graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Business Management and also attended Charlotte School of Law. Learning new skills is a hobby in itself for Sylene. She is self-taught in Rubik’s cube, guitar, home repair, and fishing, while her other hobbies include taekwondo, puzzles, and board games.
