Senior Content Strategist & Writer
Maria Muniz is the Senior Content Strategist & Writer for VisionPoint’s Media & Optimization team. She has more than 30 years of experience in content creation, marketing, public relations, social media management, and email marketing strategy – and an arsenal of skills to go with it.
Before joining VisionPoint, Maria honed her craft across industries and focus areas, from nonprofits and SaaS tech organizations to multinational companies. Her freelance work includes newspaper and magazine writing and editorial work. Maria loves content development and management, from concept through delivery. She specializes in blogs, monthly newsletters, case studies, e-books, infographics, webinars, and social media content and management.
Maria is part of the VisionPoint team developing inbound marketing strategies to achieve clients’ marketing goals. She brings those strategies to life, using content marketing as a vehicle for brand building, awareness, and lead generation. She creates content that adheres to inbound and SEO best practices, while always keeping storytelling at the heart of her work. “SEO is important, but content should not be written as a placeholder for keywords,” she says. “Good content adds value, informs, or entertains. You have to write for the human at the other end, not for an algorithm.”
As a mother of two who helped her children navigate, back to back, through the college search and application process, she gained first-hand insight into the types of higher ed messaging that engages, nurtures – and sometimes frustrates – both students and parents during an exciting and often stressful time in their lives. She applies that experience to the content she produces at VisionPoint.
Maria graduated from New York University with a double major in English and Journalism and later went on to complete certificate programs in French language and literature at the Sorbonne and the Paris Chamber of Commerce.
Ironically, for a woman born in Cuba who has an intense fear of heights, Maria loves escaping to the North Carolina mountains as often as possible. When she’s not deep in the woods, she has a nose in a book, a needle in an art quilt, or she’s re-watching her favorite version of Pride and Prejudice for the umpteenth time. Once a English major, always an English major.
“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”
