Break Out the Champagne!

Last year, we announced that VisionPoint was ranked as one of the 2016 Best Employers in North Carolina. This year, not only did we make the 2017 Best Employers in North Carolina list, but we’ve moved into the TOP 5! It’s a huge honor and we’re extremely grateful to be recognized for all of the work that our team is doing.

VisionPoint is a Top 5 Employer graphic

In celebration of reaching the top five, here are five reasons our team thinks VisionPoint is one of NC’s best employers.

#1 We get to work with smart, friendly people.

Ask anyone on our team and they will tell you that we are fortunate to work with the very best people. VisionPoint has a culture of collaboration where everyone is encouraged to contribute and everyone’s ideas are valued. Not only that, the people here are genuinely funny and always friendly. We enjoy our weekly staff meetings just as much as we enjoy catching up over a drink after work.

“I like VisionPoint because it’s so much more than just a job. We really are a team who cares for each other and we are always working together to achieve a goal. The way everyone is so willing to help and the amount of collaboration that goes on is truly special. I couldn’t be happier working at VisionPoint!” – Dylan, Information Architect

Reason #2: We’re professional, but not stuffy.

We’ve ditched the corporate suits and ties in exchange for jeans and sneakers because we know that what you wear has little to do with the quality of work you create. In fact, it would be tough to find a more hard-working team dedicated to doing incredible work for our clients. We like to think that’s in part because the VisionPoint office strikes a balance between a casual atmosphere and a professional approach that moves our business forward.

“There are many reasons to enjoy working at VisionPoint, but I would say the fun, collaborative work environment is one of the best parts! Everybody works together to deliver the best possible results to our clients. It’s great to work for a company that pushes you to do good work and think outside of the box.” – Sarah, Digital Marketing Specialist

Reason #3: We offer benefits beyond a salary.

We all work to make a living, but employers can provide so much more than just a paycheck. For example, VisionPoint provides exceptional healthcare options, 401k matching and profit sharing. In addition to these traditional benefits, we also bring our dogs to the office, participate in weekly yoga classes and have the flexibility to work from home when necessary (some of us even work remotely 100% of the time!).

“I’m grateful for all the benefits VisionPoint offers, but for me the biggest perk is being a remote employee. Even though I’m in Baltimore, I still get to be a part of this amazing team and incredible company.” – Meredith, Account Director

Morning Yoga in the Office

Reason #4: We actually take the time to learn and grow.

Professional development is a huge part of our company culture. Each employee goes through an annual review process that incorporates feedback from all members of the organization. It can seem intimidating at first, but we’ve all come to find that the feedback is constructive, encouraging and leaves us feeling energized to improve in the future. The action plans that we create following our annual reviews are tracked on a monthly basis through growth charts that help us measure performance against our goals.

“Professional development is a key area of focus for the VisionPoint team. We have designated time in our weeks to concentrate on growing as a professional, individually and as a team, whether that’s in the form of a one-on-one with our supervisor, a lunch n’ learn, or our annual 360 review. And it’s all done with the ultimate goal of contributing to the success of the company and the clients we serve.” – Sam, Account Manager

Collaborating in "The Lab"

Reason #5: We have a beautiful home.

Fall of 2016 marked a huge milestone for VisionPoint: We moved into a beautiful new office space that we custom-designed. The new office has a clean, modern feel and is equipped with creative collaboration spaces that reflect our focus on higher education and a break room that gives us the opportunity to relax and celebrate our success together. What could be better? Well, we also love that we’ve made our home in the wonderful city of Raleigh, NC. We have countless options to explore outdoors, visit art galleries, try a new restaurant or catch some live music.

“Walking into our office for the first time is always a surprise for visitors. It’s certainly not what you expect to find tucked into a little office park on Glenwood Avenue. It’s colorful and inviting, and full of cozy little corners perfect for collaboration or getting away from your desk for a moment. It’s an inspiring place to work each day, and the longer we’re here, the more little touches we’re adding to make it our own.” – Lydia, Senior User Experience Designer

If all of this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, take a look at our Careers page. We’ve got several open positions and we are always looking for the best and brightest employees in our industry.

Best Companies Group polls employers on everything from average salary to hiring and promotion practices. The “Best Employers in NC” program is a statewide initiative that was created by Business North Carolina, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) – NC State Council and Best Companies Group. They’ve got a streamlined process for identifying and evaluating great companies. First, Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Employers in North Carolina. Part 1 consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. Part 2 consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings.
