Between the scarves, sweaters, extra coffee and space heaters around the office, it’s easy to tell that the holidays are here.
This is the perfect time of year to look back and think of all the wonderful things we have to be thankful for. As our team has grown, so has our list of challenges, accomplishments and blessings.
I asked everyone to share a few (or more than a few) things that they are thankful for this year. I’ll warn you, the list is long. But it is an excellent representation of the many wonderful people, places a things we have in our lives.
Diane: The experiences that I've had to learn from every person on the VisionPoint team and each of our amazing clients. The opportunity to work closely with the new VisionPointers that have joined the team this year. I'm consistently impressed with their ability to meet the strategic challenges they are empowered to face. The time and openness that all of our "older" VisionPointers have provided me as we push each other to learn, grow and improve for ourselves and our clients. My health, my sons, and loving relationships with my family and friends.
Tony: The tacos I ate in San Francisco last month, the smell of garlic on my hands the day after making a nice red sauce, silky soft skin, the foliage in Raleigh, a clean shave, a clear mind and a great story, Muncie, Austin, San Francisco, Boston, Palo Alto, New Orleans, Boiling Springs, Charlottesville, D.C., the beach, San Diego, Santa Barbara and all the other amazing places I've been this year, family, my AMAZING children, the health of those I love deeply, learning from my coworkers, a gentle whisper in your ear, friends texting me from bars, curves, grids, client partners, my Pats, fuzzy socks in the winter, humility, honesty, integrity, forgiveness, art school, slomo video, and the universe smiling down on me.
Gail: A loving family, great friends, good health, a wonderful job, a roof over my head and all the food and clothes I need. Having all the basic necessities are a blessing!
Zac: Raleigh and all the perks that come with living in the axis of cool. The fact that I genuinely respect and admire my coworkers (not every company can say that). Mentors (my own board of directors) who've helped me along the way. Clients! Johns Hopkins, UCSB, Western Carolina, Ball State (just to name a few). Freedom to pursue my interests on the weekends: Bicycles. Bold coffee. Craft beer. Adventures with friends. Above all, I love and am grateful for my family (Sarah and Henry) who always wait up for me when I come home late.
Matt: My beautiful wife and kids. A company where integrity is highly valued. Coworkers who make coming to work a joy for me. Zac's encouraging emails. The way we support one another as a team at VisionPoint. Coffee.
Carissa: My family, friends, work family, coffee, popcorn, fuzzy blankets, fuzzy socks, craft stores and technology.
Clara: I'm thankful for my family, my friends, my fiance and our two dogs. I'm thankful for the health and happiness of those around me and for the excitement of what is to come in 2015. And, as always, I'm thankful for sweets.
Tara: Wonderful co-workers who I truely enjoy. Apples, bananas and baby carrots. A great family that always has my back. Cinnamon, almonds and yogurt. A fiance that I can’t wait to marry! Sweaters, scented candles and red wine.
Micaiah: My wonderful family. Cups of morning coffee. Oversized sweaters. Friends, both near and far. Donuts. The Office. A team of colleagues that make me laugh and support me on tough days.
Jason: I am thankful for a great year. I graduated from NC State, got married, got the BEST JOB IN THE WORLD and I get to work with incredible people -- my colleagues and the incredible clients that we collaborate with. I'm also thankful for my dog and my newly adopted cat (acquired through marriage), and the craft beer industry as a whole.
Dwight: I'm thankful for my health, and the health of those I love. I'm thankful for life and that I look forward to getting up every morning. I'm thankful to be loved and to love others. I'm thankful that I learn and grow everyday, and that I always want to be a better person.
Justin: Friends, family and greek yogurt.
Caroline: Being the newest addition to the VisionPoint team!!!! Being able to put my college degree to use! Coffee - lots of coffee. Great coworkers!! Netflix. Chocolate (ALL kinds of chocolate). Good books. Mexican food (including margaritas). A supportive family. A car that still runs. A strong network of friends all over the country and being alive!!!!
Chris: The Farmers responsible for providing the food we eat. The Doctors and Researchers responsible for the modern medicine that keeps us all healthy. The Engineers that have worked hard to keep our technology safe and lives secure. My friends and family, for their love and support.
Steven: Family, friends, everyone at VisionPoint, puppy, beer, music, video games, books, fantasy football, the Internet.
As you can see, we have a lot going on and and an endless list of things to be thankful for. I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on all of the many blessings in your life. It can be anything from family and friends to food and travel. As I told my co-workers, think of the things that makes you smile.
From everyone here at VisionPoint, we hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family, friends, fun and of course delicious food!
