As a VisionPoint Marketing Strategist, Kat Wise’s keen insights and proven background in marketing and communications for worldwide brands make her the ultimate client-facing partner.
A seasoned marketing professional, Kat is committed to developing a top-to-bottom understanding of each client’s unique positioning needs, target audiences, and competitive environment. She uses these insights to craft comprehensive marketing strategies that build on a client’s strengths and brand priorities and move their institutional goals forward.
Kat acts as an in-the-trenches partner who is committed to the measurable success of every component of a client’s project. Leveraging her years of professional experience, she marshalls the team of VisionPoint resources — writers, designers, developers — to turn creative concepts into actionable strategies for higher ed clients.
Like our clients, we value Kat for her wealth of marketing and advertising experience — she’s worked at some of the biggest agencies in the Chicago ad world. Her impressive marketing toolkit includes expertise in brand positioning and messaging, analytics, campaign management, social media management, and content strategy. Over the years, she has led strategy for a number of the world’s largest consumer brands including CocaCola, Purina, Intel, and Kraft businesses. She’s also no stranger to higher ed, having worked at Indiana University, where she led accounts as a content and creative strategist.
At VisionPoint, Kat applies her consumer-brand experience to create unique and winning strategies that reach outside the usual box of higher ed marketing. “Strategists act as the bridge to create better ideas faster,” she says.
Kat’s academic credentials are equally impressive; she holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and Integrated Marketing Communications and a BS from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.
On the personal front, Kat’s curiosity and interests have taken her from working as a sous chef in the Olympic Village at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece to tackling a 900-mile hike on the Appalachian Trail. A proud Clevelander, Kat is now enjoying the four seasons in Chicago where she’s a new mom to a little baby girl, Winter Ryan. When she’s not creating unique strategies for her clients, she spends her time soaking up newborn snuggles and seeing everything new through the eyes of her little daughter.
