Who Are We Looking For?

VisionPoint is offering a paid internship for a person with basic web development skills who wants to gain professional experience. We are a small team with a focus on the creative process, user experience and clean coding practices. We believe in doing great work and delivering high quality products and a great customer experience to our clients. If you have a positive attitude and you’re passionate about advancing your knowledge of the web, working on a variety of projects and helping our company grow, then we are looking for you.

Must Haves:

  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and javascript (you should know what each of these languages do as well as how to write valid code for each).

  • A strong sense of google-fu. Having a thirst for knowledge – and knowing how to “ask” the web development community for help – is half the battle.

  • A desire to solve problems and quickly adapt to new situations.

Big Pluses:

  • Experience in one or more content management system.

  • Experience using version control systems such as git, mercurial or subversion.

  • Experience using CSS preprocessors such as sass or less.

  • Knowledge of back-end topics such as web server setup, database manipulation and server-side coding.

  • Experience working on the command line.

What You’ll Do

Your day-to-day tasks will be determined with the VisionPoint team based on your interests and goals. Here are a few examples of what you’ll learn:

  • Work with our team of developers to help build and maintain websites and applications across multiple CMS offerings.

  • Experience the “full-stack” of web development, from setting up a virtual hosting environment to writing server-side logic to implementing a front-end based on PSD designs.

  • Scope and estimate development tasks for business development and sales purposes.

  • Explain development concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Application Materials

Please click here to apply. Be sure to include:

  • Cover Letter (please include it in the body of the email)

  • Resume (PDF, Word doc or link to an online copy)

  • Code samples and/or portfolio are encouraged, but optional

We only accept PDF, Word, RTF and TXT files as application materials. We will accept websites as part of application materials, but we expect written summaries of what your role was in the production of the sites. Additionally, please limit file sizes to less than 4MB. We will only review complete applications.

Our Internship Program

The VisionPoint internship program is a 12-week program offered in Spring, Summer and Fall. The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are looking to gain experience in an agency setting. We value all of our interns and we work hard to ensure your experience fits your career goals. Every intern in the program is assigned a mentor who will help to set goals and provide regular performance feedback. Our Web Developer Interns are paid a stipend of $100 for every 40 hours worked. VisionPoint is happy to work with full-time students looking to get course credit for their internship.

Internships are available part-time or full-time. In order to truly immerse yourself in the VisionPoint work environment, we recommend that you spend at least 15-20 hours in our office each week.

VisionPoint Marketing believes that every intern has the potential to become a full-time VisionPoint employee following graduation.
