The purpose of this position is to grow VisionPoint Marketing’s revenue by discovering, researching, evaluating and nurturing new business opportunities and prospects. The position will work closely with the Director of Marketing to identify new business opportunities that are a good fit for VisionPoint’s capabilities and then recommend solutions that will help prospective clients achieve their goals, ultimately converting prospective clients into customers. The Sales & Marketing Consultant will represent VisionPoint professionally at various industry events and conferences and will in many instances provide the first impression outsiders and prospective clients have with VisionPoint Marketing. In addition to growing relationships with prospective clients, the Sales & Marketing Consultant will be expected to support the Account Services team by scoping, estimating and creating proposals for existing clients when opportunities arise. The position will report to the Director of Marketing.
What You Will Do
Maintain a customer and prospect database (CRM) consisting of new leads and prospects and communications sent to new and existing VisionPoint Marketing clients.
Conduct timely follow-up and nurturing of new business leads obtained from VisionPoint’s internal marketing efforts (e.g. conferences, newsletters, content offers, etc.).
Respond to and follow up with business opportunities by email, mail, telephone and personal visits involving other VisionPoint team members where appropriate.
Facilitate, lead and document prospect and client discovery meetings including pre-meeting research to accurately evaluate client needs.
Based on identified client needs, be responsible for gathering input from team in order to develop and deliver compelling proposals that result in profitable revenue and relationships.
Follow up on submitted proposals and work collaboratively with other VisionPoint team members to plan pitch presentations that speak to clients’ needs, concerns and marketing goals.
Be responsible, as a lead estimator, for developing accurate cost estimates by predicting hours required based on historical data, team input and VisionPoint’s proprietary methodologies.
Collaborate with internal VisionPoint resources including, but not limited to, the Director of Marketing, President & CEO, Senior Strategists, Account Services, Director of Technology, etc. to develop and present logical suggestions for how VisionPoint Marketing can help clients achieve their goals.
Coordinate meetings between client decision makers and internal team such as the President & CEO, VP, Director of Marketing, Senior Strategists and other VisionPoint team members.
By researching industry and related events, identify opportunities for VisionPoint to enhance its positioning within the higher education landscape.
Professionally represent VisionPoint Marketing at various local and national events as part of our support of the higher education marketing community, ultimately to build brand awareness and generate demand for VisionPoint Marketing’s services.
Collaborate with other VisionPoint Marketing team members in the planning and execution of VisionPoint’s own marketing activities to an agreed upon strategy, budget, tactical execution and timelines which may include, but is not limited to the creation and facilitation of webinars, presentations and other marketing collateral.
Perform internal administrative duties in a complete and timely manner including time tracking, meeting attendance and participation, etc.

Experience and Education
The ideal candidate would possess the following skills, interest, and experience:
- Must demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Able to actively listen and identify opportunities to leverage our company's expertise to help a client achieve their goals and then clearly communicate how that can be accomplished.
- Must be able to travel a moderate amount when necessary, sometimes evenings and weekends.
- Minimum 4-year bachelor's degree in business, marketing or other applicable field of study.
- 3-7 years experience in sales/business development or in an agency environment
- Must be internally motivated, driven, goal-oriented.
- Must demonstrate excellence in detail orientation.
- Must demonstrate empathy for clients, team members, etc.
- Must be optimistic and take the attitude that most problems can be solved.
The items listed below aren’t absolutely required for this job, but they add a little something extra to your application if you have them. And by a little, we mean a lot.
- Understands high-level marketing principles including but not limited to websites, SEO, social media, content development, email marketing and integrated marketing plans.
- Able to handle situations where there is no pat answer.
- Experience within or serving the higher education space.
- Experience with Adobe InDesign
