At VisionPoint, the User Experience (UX) Designer is a creative thinker able to translate business strategies and creative concepts into useful and delightful experiences across various types of media including websites, mobile apps, and UI (user interfaces). At VisionPoint, there is no one UX Designer role; there are multiple UX Designer roles, each with their own area of specialization or concentration. Some people straddle multiple concentrations (for example, a Visual Designer who can do front-end coding) while others are purely dedicated to one concentration. These concentrations include:

  • Researcher

  • Strategist

  • Content developers/content strategist

  • Information architect

  • Visual designer

  • Front-end developer

The ideal candidate for this particular role – that of “UX Designer with a concentration in Information Architecture” – will understand how incredibly important and foundational IA is to the long-terms success of large-scale websites. They will have a strong empathy for the needs of the end-user while also understanding how to balance those needs with the ultimate goals of the client for whom they are working. Through documented artifacts like user personas, sitemaps, wireframes and others, the candidate should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and a proven knack – not to mention a passion – for facilitating delightful user experiences on a range of digital devices.

What You Will Do

  • Execute all Information Architecture tasks from current-state audit to user testing.

  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex UX challenges.

  • Create wireframes, site maps, site audits, user testing models and prototypes, user flow diagrams, user personas, use cases, and other tools/documents/tasks to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas, as well as document the overall UX experience and process.

  • Present key milestone deliverables to peers, superiors and clients.

  • Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback.

  • Establish and promote guidelines, best practices and standards.

  • Ultimately, collaborate with the Creative Director, Account Managers, Strategists, Visual Designers, Content Strategists, Content Developers, and Front/Back-end Developers to define and implement the best solutions for the defined needs of our clients, as well as the goals of their target audiences/users.

Experience & Education

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills, interest and experience:

  • Strong grasp of user behavior and a sense of empathy for audience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Computer Interaction, Library Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Design, Web Engineering or a related field and 3+ years of experience

  • Extensive experience in information design and user scenarios

  • Proficiency in tools that relate to IA such as Omnigraffle, Balsamiq, Illustrator, InDesign, InVision, etc.

  • Solid understanding of web analytics and best practices

  • Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop big ideas and execute flawlessly against them in a highly collaborative environment

  • Not only the ability to work within a team, but the desire to thrive within a collaborative, driven  culture

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through, even and especially with the administrative tasks that are part of doing the job well

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver both excellent AND efficient work that achieves results

  • Eager to learn but also capable of and willing to assume accountability and ownership of project execution

  • A passion for learning and staying up to speed on industry knowledge, trends and shifts
