As part of our growth strategy, and in support of our vision to become the country’s most sought-after marketing agency for higher ed, we’re seeking an experienced Director of Strategic Partnerships to lead our sales team. The purpose of this position is to grow VisionPoint’s revenue and business opportunities by leading (as well as personally executing) VisionPoint’s sales efforts with new and existing clients.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement a sales strategy focused both on financial gain and client satisfaction which fits within VisionPoint’s short and long-term vision.

  • Manage and inspire the sales team in order to elevate the quality and success of work performed, deliverables and results while balancing the well being and long-term success of your team.

  • Lead efforts to develop relationships and partnerships that position VisionPoint as thought leaders and innovators within the national higher education marketing community and lead to new business growth and the creation of efficient and effective client solutions.

  • Seek out, recognize, evaluate, pursue and close new business opportunities with new and existing clients in order to achieve annual revenue and profitability goals.

  • Create thoughtful, well-crafted proposals and presentations which align with VisionPoint’s sales process, and follow-up and establish good rapport with a prospect’s identified decision-makers.

  • Be responsible, as a lead estimator, for developing accurate cost estimates by predicting hours required based on historical data, team input and VisionPoint’s proprietary methodologies.

  • Represent VisionPoint in high-stakes client presentations, conversations and negotiations with real-time client consultation.

  • Facilitate and lead sales discovery, evaluation, proposals, pitches and related initiatives, from start to finish.

  • Be a principal proposal and pitch creator by understanding prospective client business needs and crafting solutions that will help prospective clients achieve their goals, ultimately converting prospective clients into customers.

  • Study and maintain a keen eye on the competitive landscape, actively keeping VisionPoint’s Leadership Team informed of goings-on, trends, opportunities, threats, etc. which can impact our business, positioning and ability to serve our clients.

  • Analyze market trends as well as feedback from clients and partners to recommend changes to client engagement strategies based on that analysis.

  • On a weekly, quarterly and annual basis, track and report metrics (e.g. new business sold, existing business sold, weighted pipeline, closing rate, etc.) which indicate the sales team’s progress toward quarterly and annual sales goals. Be accountable for adjusting tactical execution of the sales strategy as needed to meet or exceed your goals.

  • Read, understand, evaluate and diagnose RFPs received. Know which opportunities to pursue (based on knowledge of VisionPoint’s strengths, positioning, closing rates, etc.) and determine and direct appropriate responses.

  • Develop and nurture a network of mutually beneficial professional relationships with influencers and decision-makers within higher education.

Experience and Education

  • Minimum 4-year bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or other applicable field of study.

  • Minimum 3 years in business development or sales within a fast-paced integrated marketing or web agency environment.

  • Demonstrate excellence in written and verbal communication as well as listening skills.  Our standards for writing skills are high, and we expect candidates to excel in this area.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of VisionPoint’s core offerings: integrated marketing planning and execution, branding and website design and development.

You Must Also:

  • Demonstrate the ability to actively listen and identify opportunities to leverage VisionPoint’s expertise to help a client achieve their goals and then clearly communicate how that can be accomplished.

  • Be a fast learner and have a passion for sales and marketing.

  • Be able to travel a moderate amount when necessary, sometimes evenings and weekends.

  • Demonstrate creativity and a willingness to solve problems where there is no pat answer.

  • Be internally motivated, driven and goal-oriented.

  • Demonstrate empathy for clients, team members, etc.

  • Be optimistic and take the attitude that most problems can be solved.

  • Actively contribute to VisionPoint culture.

  • Experience in – or selling to – higher education

  • Experience evaluating and thoughtfully responding to public RFPs

Compensation

Commensurate with experience.
