The purpose of this position is to grow VisionPoint Marketing’s revenue and business opportunities by directing and coordinating activities which position VisionPoint as leaders within the higher education marketing community. The Marketing Director will work closely with other members of the Leadership Team and report to the President & CEO. The Marketing Director will be accountable for facilitating all components of VisionPoint’s strategic marketing plan and will be an active member of the higher education marketing community, performing duties which create conversation within the industry to position VisionPoint Marketing as thought leaders, ultimately driving profitability and sales.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a marketing execution team that will develop and execute new marketing materials, channel partnerships and other initiatives to grow our company as thought leaders and innovators within the national higher education marketing community and, to a lesser extent, our local and regional business environment.

  • Collaborate with VisionPoint’s internal resources to creatively execute a strategic marketing plan. For example, the strategic marketing plan may include case studies, white papers, blogs, videos, portfolio pieces, presentations, webinars, websites, partnerships, proposals, events, etc. for VisionPoint Marketing.

  • Identify, track and measure results of marketing initiatives against the marketing plan, regularly reporting results to other members of the team.

  • Based on results, make strategic recommendations and implement iterative improvements to the execution of the marketing plan.

  • Study and maintain a keen eye on the competitive landscape, actively keeping the rest of the company informed of goings-on, trends, opportunities, threats, etc. which can impact our business, positioning and ability to serve our clients.

  • Achieve annual revenue and profitability goals.

  • Analyze market trends as well as feedback from clients and partners to recommend changes to marketing and business development strategies based on that analysis.

  • Work aggressively to position VisionPoint Marketing as thought leaders within the higher education marketing community by ensuring that VisionPoint is successful at traveling, presenting, attending and actively participating in industry events such as conferences, trade shows, symposiums and other events where our target audience is present.

  • Be the principal “proposal creator” working closely with the Sales and Marketing Consultant to understand prospective client business needs and recommend solutions that will help prospective clients achieve their goals, ultimately converting prospective clients into customers.

  • Share resources and content offers with clients, prospective clients, partners and other members of the higher education community which enrich our positioning.

  • In addition to curating one’s own professional profiles, be one of the primary “voices” for VisionPoint Marketing’s own social media activity for the purpose of engaging external stakeholders, clients and prospective clients.

Experience and Education

  • Must demonstrate outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to actively listen and identify opportunities to leverage our company’s expertise to help a client achieve their goals and then clearly communicate how that can be accomplished.

  • Must be able to travel a moderate amount when necessary, sometimes evenings and weekends.

  • Minimum 4-year bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or other applicable field of study.

  • Must demonstrate creativity and a willingness to solve problems where there is no pat answer.

  • Must bring 4-6 years in a marketing/business development role or other applicable field.

  • Must be internally motivated, driven and goal-oriented.

  • Must demonstrate excellence in detail orientation.

  • Must demonstrate empathy for clients, team members, etc.

  • Must be optimistic and take the attitude that most problems can be solved.
