The new PPC

 By Christine McCallum-Randalls

The Party Planning Committee is in the business of inter-office entertainment. Each week, the PPC gets together over lunch to plan fun teambuilding events the whole office can enjoy. At a recent meeting, more motions were introduced than actual planning took place. “Motion to motion to begin meeting.” “Motion to continue current discussion.”

The meetings generally end with a battle for shotgun as committee members attempt to enter the vehicle which will return us to the office. Whoever calls shotgun first is challenged and a short game of skill is initiated. The winner gets the passenger seat and all of the glory and leg room that comes with it.

Recently, one such challenge was a test of speed.  Zac and Ulisses battled for shotgun by running to the vehicle, each determined to get into the passenger seat first. As Ulisses ran around the vehicle, Zac opened the car door and dove through the driver’s seat into the passenger seat, beating Ulisses by mere seconds. Laughter and cheers erupted. However, Zac’s victory celebration was cut short because in the process of winning, he knocked the rearview mirror out of place with his head.

In the end, Zac had a minor headache and a professional had to re-install the mirror. But it wasn’t a total loss. We now have a new motion to introduce, “Motion to never let Zac live this down.”
