YouTube, a subject of much conversation on the net these days, has huge potential with a vague business model. If net business is all about attention then YouTube is currently threatening everyone. While it is still burning through cash and hasn’t found the magic of profitability it has our eyes and ears and holds them longer than most sites out there.
Currently there is much debate revolving around user generated content and compensation. Users of digg for example, are generating millions of revenue for the owners. Jason Calcanis, top dog for AOL’s online initiatives, argues that users should be paid for their time and submissions.
That’s why when I read this article British pensioner becomes surprise YouTube star is so intriguing to me. YouTube is a site for a largely young audience. What is this geriatric contributer doing grabbing all that attention? I would love to hear what you all think of this. Are you a YouTube watcher? Do you prefer it to television?
